In just a decade, Alfred Knight, MD, led the transformation of Scott & White Healthcare system from a single hospital in Temple with 16 clinics to the largest multispecialty health system in Texas, comprised of 12 hospital and hospital partner sites, more than 60 clinics, a health plan and multiple subsidiaries.

When Dr. Knight stepped down as president and CEO this past spring, he assumed the position of president of the newly-formed Scott & White Healthcare Foundation, the system’s philanthropic arm. “As Foundation president, it is my goal to build awareness and support for the facilities and programs that enhance our ability to provide the level of patient care for which we are known,” he says.

Interested individuals will have the opportunity to shadow Dr. Knight in his transition from physician administrator to philanthropy in a blog he will author entitled “The Next Chapter.” In addition to discussing health care topics dominating today’s headlines, Dr. Knight will use the forum to “talk about the expanded and necessary world of nonprofit philanthropy and how, hopefully, leadership can make a difference.”
