Heart transplant recipient ‘Jane’ recovering well, issues call for organ donation

heartTXlive update from Jane

“Jane,” the Dallas patient whose heart transplant was covered live on social media last week, is recovering well, her doctors report.

She was transferred out of the Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas intensive care unit late last week and is now being monitored on a patient floor, where she is undergoing physical therapy and rehabilitation.

Now, the local wife and mother is asking others to consider providing the same gift that saved her life.

“I really want to make a difference,” she said in a statement. “I request everyone to consider organ donation. Thanks to all for their support through this time.”

Jane will likely be discharged later this week. She’ll continue to recover at home and will complete outpatient cardiac rehabilitation.

Her doctors expect her to go back to work and resume normal activities within six to eight weeks, which is typical for those who are recovering from a heart transplant.

“Explore."

Jane and her family are focusing on her recovery and they are requesting privacy while she continues to heal. They thanked everyone for their support and prayers over the last week.
