Jessica, 13, is a typical, active teenager. She loves sports, hanging out with friends and she really loves horses, but she wasn’t always so active.
For several months, prior to her surgery, she experienced severe stomach pain whenever she ate. She couldn’t keep weight on, she didn’t want to participate in sports. It even caused pain when she rode her horse.
After her grandmother recommended Scott & White Healthcare, Jessica’s mom took her to see Dr. Buckley at the Round Rock clinic. They discovered that Jessica needed to have her gallbladder removed.
Before, that would have meant a significant scar, but Dr. Buckley knew she was a good candidate for the single incision laparoscopic surgery, which allowed him to remove her gall bladder through one tiny incision in her belly button.
She was home on the same day and back at school the next week!
