As the trauma team leader of a NATO combat hospital in Kandahar, Afghanistan, Stephen Burgher, MD, (pictured) treated horrific blast injuries unlike anything he would typically see back in Dallas.
The emergency medicine physician on the staff at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas now shares his wartime trauma lessons with colleagues here. Much of what he saw in war is detailed in a journal he kept during his tour.
