Hero of the Month program added to Children’s Hospital

A new Hero of the Month program for recognizing pediatric patients who face and overcome difficult circumstances has been launched at Scott & White Children’s Hospital in Temple, Texas.

On May 27, 5-year old Saniyah Turner became the first to receive the Hero of the Month Award, and accepted a certificate, a commemorative medal, special T-shirt, and a $200 gift certificate for the occasion. Saniyah had been a patient following her surgery to repair a leg fracture, burns and cuts when she was struck by vehicle as she was running across a street. She was nominated by the staff because of the way she has maintained a positive attitude, with spirit and determination, throughout her hospitalization and treatments.

Children’s Hospital CEO, Dr. John Boyd, surgeon Dr. Danny Little, and other staff presented Saniyah her gifts.

The Hero of the Month is a program of the Kids Wish NetworkTM, a nationally recognized charitable organization dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children. To be eligible, a child must be 3 – 18 years of age, and be nominated by one of the hospital staff.
